It’s a Horrid Reward for Kids

Fans of Horrid Henry are in for a treat with the launch of two Magnetic Reward Charts from Fiesta Crafts’ Doowell range in September 2010. Knowing that children love to collect stars and rewards, a Horrid Henry reward chart will be just what parents need to inspire their kids to be a little more Perfect Peter than Horrid Henry.

Reward charts have become incredibly popular and are recognised by parenting experts as an excellent way to encourage good behaviour and motivate children to carry out their responsibilities. They are by far the most popular category of chart for UK-based toy designer Fiesta Crafts.

Created by author Francesca Simon, Horrid Henry has sold over 16 million books in the UK alone – second only in popularity to Harry Potter. The animated series created by Novel Entertainment is the most successful show ever on ITV’s children’s channel, beating all other children’s programmes in its time slot.

The large and small charts include 15 colourful activity pieces themed around Horrid Henry and other characters from the series. There are old favourites like ‘Do my homework’ and ‘Tidy my room’, while on the larger version other more personal tasks can be written on the blank pieces with a dry-wipe pen.

Parent and child simply choose activities to follow and set targets for achievement. For each completed task, children earn purple hand tokens – the splattered paint symbol of Horrid Henry’s very own ‘exclusive’ Purple Hand Gang.

With the larger version, two children can use the chart at the same time and write in their rewards for achieving their goals.

Importantly, the charts don’t show days, so that if a child has an ‘off’ day, there won’t be a potentially demotivating ‘gap’.

Besides reward charts, the Horrid Henry range will be extended to include large and small magnetic calendars as well as stunning Horrid Henry and Perfect Peter fabric hand puppets for the multi award-winning Tellatale Puppets range.
